First Visit

Girl with retainer - Orthodontist in Glastonbury, CT

What to Expect

Our goal at Glastonbury Orthodontics is to make your experience a positive one. At the first visit, we will spend time reviewing your medical/dental history and do a clinical exam in order to determine whether or not treatment is indicated. We will also spend time talking to you about your concerns and goals as far as your teeth are concerned. If we decide that the timing is right to begin treatment, we will start by taking additional diagnostic records. These will usually include x-rays, photographs of your teeth and face, as well as plaster study models. We will use the information that we gather at this appointment to develop a treatment plan for your specific needs. As your treatment progresses it is often useful to refer to these initial records that will serve as a baseline and help track your progress.

Consultation Appointment

Once the doctor has had a chance to evaluate your records, we will have you come in for a consultation appointment. At this visit, she will spend time reviewing her findings as well as explaining the proposed treatment plan. It is also an opportunity for you to ask questions and alleviate any concerns. The treatment coordinator will discuss the cost of treatment for your case as well as finance options.

Appointments

Your appointments will generally be scheduled every 4-8 weeks once the appliances are placed in your mouth. The first appointment when you are getting the appliances will be a longer visit taking 1-2 hours. Following this, we will see you at regular intervals for adjustments. These visits are usually only 20-30 minutes long. We ask that if you have something loose or broken to call and let us know ahead of time so that we can try to allot some extra time in the schedule for a repair. We understand that there are unforeseen circumstances, but if possible we ask that you give us at least 24 hour notice if you will not be able to keep your appointment.

We strive to make each and every visit to our office a fun one!
